Yes, the sample size to be audited each time you conduct a waste audit should be similar, because this gives the clearest picture of real world differences, being increase or reduction in the total weight of any one material category. However, even if the sample sizes to be audited are different, you will still gain some insight into reduction of certain material categories, particularly if your efforts since last audit have been towards total diversion of certain items to landfill, due to utilising them in a reuse manner. (Organics for composts in school gardens etc)
